I did not like it.
I liked it.
I thought it one of the Best Novels of All Time

I was very glad when I found out this book was set in the early nineteen-thirties, since I've been interested in that time period lately.  It was interesting at times, and pretty good.  There were places where I thought, "Hm.   This is very good writing."  I feel bad to say this, but my favorite part was the opening quotation, by Somerset Maugham.

I didn't mind this book at all.
